my diary

A great evening out thanks to Mike Nice and his WW2 restored Tiger Cub. We flew locally and visited Thorpe Abbotts, Eye, Horham, Halesworth and Metfield airfields.  Eye and Halesworth were very impressive, Eye with some hardstandings complete and Halesworth having 99% of it's perimeter tracks and runways (thanks to Bernard Matthews!)

It was great to get a B17 pilot's eye view as we flew past the main runways.  I'd only ever seen them from the air in the bestselling book "Airfields of the Eighth - Then and Now" but the photos in it are nearly 30 years old.  Conditions were perfect with no turbulence at all.  I wasn't sure if I'd get airsick or not, having never been up in a light aircraft before, but I survived without turning green or pebble-dashing the interior....
