HMAS SWAN 2003The HMAS Swan wreck is a battleship that was scuttled in 1997 off the coast of Dunsborough WA, to provide a dive site and also for coral and marine life to turn into their home. It was fantastic - the visibility was awesome, right down to the bottom - there were fish everywhere, and the entire wreck was covered in floaty misty weed that looked like hair. Approaching the bow was awesome, but there were too many other divers flailing around and making bubbles. That was the main bummer of the dive - loads of divers, loads of dive companies - it was really crowded, and something that will be damaging all the young coral trying to get established there. I'm hoping in the future they will restrict entry to the inside of the ship once the growth gets bigger? Click thumbnail to view larger image. Click HERE to view 2002 SWAN photos. Big thanks to Busselton Naturaliste Dive for taking care of us for the day.
