scuba diving

During our 2001 trip to Perth we both decided that snorkelling wasn't good enough so did a 4-day PADI Open Water Diver course at Rottnest Malibu Diving centre. We had one day in the classroom doing all the dive theory, one day in a swimming pool learning the equipment and various skills needed (mask clearing, aaargh!!!!!!!!!!!), then we did 2 shore dives from Woodmans Point, followed by 2 boat dives from Rottnest Island.

It was so good we went back 2 days later for 2 more boat dives, then it was time for us to fly home.  On our return to Perth in following years we did as much diving as we could, including the HMAS Swan at Dunsborough and the world famous Busselton Jetty.

Here are some pics we took at Rottnest Island on our 2003 trip, taken with Hyla's Canon Powershot camera and underwater housing.  For anyone who is just thinking about learning to dive, DO IT!!! You won't regret it! A whole new underwater world awaits you!
